Kanava Youth Center is actively involved in carrying out programs
and activities geared towards the rehabilitation and development
of youth.
Kanava Youth Center runs several programs aimed at developing
the youth with the skills they need to function in the community
without resorting to violent activities.
Among other programs, Capacity building programs, Somali adult
literacy program, English language, music, sewing, arts, computer,
HIV/AIDS awareness and short courses designed to equip the youth
to become electricians and plumbers are all part of the activities
of the center.
Currently, Kanava has four centers namely; Mogadishu Center,
which is the head quarter, Kismayo Center, Baidabo Center, and
Beletweyn Center which was recently established.
Mogadishu Center:
Kanava Mogadishu was officially established on the 3rd of September
2002.

Kismayo Center:
Kanava Kismayo was established on the 21st of March 2003.

Baidoa Center:
Kanava Baidoa is officially opened on the 1st of July 2004.

Beletweyn Center:
Kanava Beletweyn is recently opened and it started its operations
on the 1st of January 2006.
Activities:
Since its inception in January 2006, Kanava Youth Cente carries
out a lot of activities such youth rehabilitation programs, sport
activities, non-formal education, capacity building seminars,
etc.
All the activities of Kanava are carried out by volunteers; some
of these volunteers are former militias of Mogadishu's Warlords.
